About iPEDS™
iPEDS™ (Internet Pedigree System™) is TWHBEA's member-only on-line registry information system. Members of TWHBEA^SM can now access instant, up-to-the-minute registry information just by logging-on to the TWHBEA^SM website.

The appeal of this system is twofold. First, because it is tied into the TWHBEA's A/S 400 in-house computer, the information it provides is as current as it is at TWHBEA^SM headquarters. And second, it is presented in a user-friendly format using basic Internet point and click navigation techniques.

This initial release, called Phase I, is only available to current TWHBEA^SM members. It offers two options – "Standard Access" and "Premium Access."

Standard Access iPEDS™
The Standard Access option is free to all current members and includes the names and registration numbers of the nearly 400,000 horses contained in the TWHBEA^SM registry system. Standard Access also allows members to verify the status of a horse's bloodtyping.

Standard Access will be useful to the breeder who wants to check the availability of a name before submitting a registration application to TWHBEA^SM. It will be useful to the trainer who needs the registration number of a horse in order to fill-out a horse show entry form. And, it will be useful to the buyer who wants to know if the horse being considered for purchase has been bloodtyped.

Searches can be conducted either by horse name or horse registration number. By inputting a valid registration number, only one horse matching that registration number will appear on the screen. In addition, properly spelled, exact name matches will only reveal one horse. However, if searching for a horse by its name and the inputted name does not result in a match, then an alphabetical "iPEDS™ Horse List" will appear to aid the user.

Premium Access iPEDS
The Premium Access option is available to all current TWHBEA^SM members for an annual fee of $50.00. It offers everything in the Standard Access option, but also includes pedigrees, production records and show records.

In addition, Premium Access features an "iPEDS™ Horse Detail" page, which is the hub of the system's navigation. The iPEDS™ Horse Detail gives the name and registration number of a horse, along with its current owner of record, sire, dam, color, markings, sex, date of birth and death date (if available). From the iPEDS™ Horse Detail, users can view a horse's pedigree, along with any production records or show records it may have. All horses' names that appear throughout Premium Access, whether contained in an iPEDS™ Horse List, an iPEDS™ Horse Detail, a pedigree or a production record, are presented as "hot links." By simply clicking on the name or registration number of any horse, its detail page will appear.

How Do I Access iPEDS?
Members of TWHBEA^SM can access iPEDS™ in the “Members Only” section of this website.

Registering for both Standard and Premium Access iPEDS™ is done on-line through this website. Members will be required to input their name as it appears in the TWHBEA^SM membership, along with their "member since" date and their membership account number. All current TWHBEA^SM members will receive a new TWHBEA^SM membership card, which includes this important information. Completing the registration agreement is a one-time process.

It is important to note that access to iPEDS™ is contingent upon current membership. If a member's dues lapse, then access to iPEDS™ will be denied until the dues are paid.

Premium Access is good for 12 months from the date of purchase, and users will be sent multiple e-mails notifying them when their access nears expiration. It is purchased on-line and will require a valid credit card number. Once TWHBEA^SM receives and processes a Premium Access order, TWHBEA^SM will then e-mail the purchaser and provide them with a password. The access into iPEDS™ will then be activated within two business days. Standard Access users can upgrade to Premium Access at any time.

We at TWHBEA^SM are very proud of this Phase I installment of iPEDS™ and are confident our members will find it a very useful tool in making better educated buying and breeding decisions. TWHBEA^SM plans to add new functions to the system in the near future through a Phase II installment.
